The Warner family attended the local 50501 Movement demonstration on Monday. Here in Staunton, VA, we joined about 300 people in front of the Augusta County courthouse to wave signs like “We Follow the Law, So Should the President” (mine) and “You Can’t Spell FELON without ELON” (Owen’s).
And maybe because I was in the right place and time, or because I was willing to give my name to a reporter, I was prominently quoted in The News Leader‘s coverage, and our photo appeared on the jump page. Here’s what the article said about us:
Matthew Warner, of Staunton, and his family came to the courthouse to give their support to the protest movement, he said, “because Trump is the worst president in history, and he’s doing untold damage and in even less than a month. I certainly don’t appreciate that he’s fired so many air traffic controllers, like over the weekend! I mean, how could the man make us feel any more unsafe. Oh, I know, fire all the people in charge of managing the nuclear stockpiles. He’s doing that, too. So the public needs to be informed about the evil of this administration and do the right thing as soon as they can.”
So, there you go. Doing our little part to contribute to the United States’ fragile, failing democracy.
