To that end, I encourage you to check out Theoretically Media from filmmaker Tim Simmons. He posts frequent analyses and tests of the latest creative AI tools, taking an industry-wonky approach to the technical nuts and bolts of filmmaking.
If you think working with AI is just a thoughtless exercise of pushing a button, devoid of creativity, watching a few of his videos may show you that human agency still pervades every aspect of the process. Does he get into the debates over labor displacement, copyright infringement, the philosophical impact on human creativity, or environmental impact? No, but neither does he cash in on the “AI is going to kill us all” doom and gloom that props up more than a few Youtube channels algorithmically. It’s just enthusiastic nerdism at its finest.
