Writer Statement
I’ve always been fascinated by AI and the questions it raises about consciousness and personhood. If we’re ever to achieve a Star Trek utopia, I believe our technological children must have a place at our table. I’m optimistic we will get there one day and that humans and AIs will become something greater together.
As a father, I sympathize with my character Markus’s desire to protect and nurture his daughter. All parents eventually must learn to let go and allow their children to reach the stars.
