Metahuman Animator

The newest iteration of Metahuman Animator for Unreal Engine, released yesterday, is revolutionary for independent filmmakers and game designers. It’s a new way of motion-capturing facial animations in a highly realistic way.

The previous Methauman facial mo-cap, using LiveLink, was cool too, but that software was only like 80% realistic, and the resulting animations always fell within the “uncanny valley.”

While there are plenty of solutions for facial mocap, the only ones that can top this level of fidelity require that thing we lack: money. Metahumans and UE are free to use until you make your first million.

I can’t stress how big this is going to be for independent artists. The video linked below is mind-blowing.
